Liz and the Pie

I am very sad to hear that Elizabeth Taylor has died today. One of my favorite moves is National Velvet. I cry every time I watch it. I wish there were more great actors like her.

  1. I also greatly enjoy that movie. I had no idea she died today, how sad.

That picture is so great, they are both smiling.

  2. No, I haven’t seen International Velvet yet.. I’ll have to check that one out.

Here’s something interesting I found about the Pie while searching for info:
“It was Elizabeth Taylor who discovered this special horse “The Pie” for the classic movie. His real name was King Charles a seven year old thoroughbred – a red sorrel with a white stripe on his face and white socks in all for feet. The Rivera Country Club in West Los Angeles, California was where King Charles and Elizabeth first met. This horse was owned by a society woman and trained as a show hunter and jumper. The owner offered King Charles for Elizabeth to ride and she grew fond of the horse and eventually became the equine star of the National Velvet movie. King Charles is the grandson of Man O War.”

So..if he’s the grandson of Man O War and Man O War is Charm’s distant relative.. then Charm and The Pie are somehow related!!… kinda.
